Male Breast Reduction

Gynecomastia, or enlarged or overly developed male breasts are typically caused by fatty tissue, glandular tissue or both. Male breast reduction involves removing excess skin and breast tissue to flatten and enhance chest contours. This surgery is covered by some plans, but not as frequently as for women.

Concerns male breast reduction surgery can address

  • My chest doesn’t look masculine even though I work out and eat healthy.
  • I have pockets of fat on my chest that won’t go away no matter how much weight I lose.
  • I don’t like the way I look in shirts.
  • Discomfort from having enlarged breasts.
  • I’m embarrassed to be seen with my shirt off.
  • I feel less confident because I’m self-conscious about my chest.

  • Liposuction can be used to re-sculpt the breast into a more attractive contour, if the problem is primarily due to fatty tissue.
  • Traditional surgical excision may be necessary if the condition is related to a glandular disorder.
